OAKLAND, Calif. -- Bob Myers showed up for his first game as the new general manager of the Golden State Warriors wearing the same yellow tie with diagonal blue stripes that owner Joe Lacob also had knotted around his neck. The unplanned fashion gaffe left both a bit a red-faced, at least at first. The Stefano Ricci tie was a gift by the owner purchased months earlier by his fiancee, Nicole Curran, who apparently bought one for each. "See," Myers joked, "were already on the same page." Golden States new management team certainly looks the part. Whether they produce enough wins is still to be determined. The Warriors officially promoted Myers to general manager Tuesday night, speeding up the plan laid out by Lacob when he hired the former sports agent as assistant GM last summer. Former general manager Larry Riley will remain with the organization as director of scouting, and Myers will assume all responsibilities for making out the roster. Lacob hinted that he originally planned to wait another season but felt no reason to put off the move any longer. "Id say the one thing that we probably learned is, when you call the Warriors, its a little confusing," Lacob said. "A lot of voices, and I think some people pointed that out. So I think this cleans up the lines of authority, the lines of communications, a little bit. He has proved hes very capable of doing that job." Golden States management is not all the different than the one already in place. Myers joined the Warriors last April as part of the new owners reconstructed front office. Riley, who spent the past four seasons in the front office after working as an assistant coach to NBA career wins leader Don Nelson, was one of the few remaining members of Lacobs gutted Golden State management. All involved had always worked under the premise that Myers would move up to the top spot. The 37-year-old Myers was a sports agent for 14 years, played at UCLA and hails from Danville, just down the street from Oracle Arena in Oakland. He choked up a bit talking about his working for his hometown team, recognizing the opportunity he was just handed, but also acknowledging that he will ultimately be judged by wins and nothing more. "My love for the NBA started with this team," Myers said. "Its more than just a job." If for no other reason than change for the sake of change, a new front-office face for a team with one playoff appearance since 1994 will likely bring joy to most fans in the basketball-booming Bay Area. Myers has been assisting and learning from Riley -- who Lacob lauded and labeled a "loyal soldier" -- in basketball operations, such as contract negotiations, roster decisions and scouting. Together, the two started to show signs of breaking the trend of Golden State gaffes. Myers played a part in the trade that netted 2005 No. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut -- expected to be the franchise centre starting next season when hes healthy -- from Milwaukee in exchange for leading scorer Monta Ellis among others, and in drafting standout rookie shooting guard Klay Thompson to be Ellis replacement previously. Myers believes, if healthy, next years team -- expected to be led by Bogut, Stephen Curry, David Lee and Thompson -- will make major strides in the Western Conference, and he does believe Currys troublesome right ankle will be fine and Boguts fractured left ankle will be healed. He stopped short of making any playoff promises, or any promises really, other than what hes after on the roster -- more size and more veterans. "I think at the end of the day, that just shows he watches the games," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said, poking fun at his team that had lost eight of nine entering Tuesday nights game against New Orleans. "Its really a selling point to have a cool GM." The light-hearted comments from Jackson werent necessary to keep his job. Myers and Lacob have been pleased with Jackson this season, and the expectation has always been that the rookie coach will be back for a second season. The relationship between Myers and Jackson goes back decades to when Jackson was represented by Arn Tellum, Myers boss at the Wasserman Media Group. "Hes a home run as far as executives are concerned," Jackson said. "Theres no part of me shaking that they just gave the reigns to somebody I cant get along with." Myers said he doesnt plan on bringing in any new members to his staff. Executive board member Jerry West, assistant general manager Travis Schlenk and director of basketball operations Kirk Lacob, the owners son, will assist him along with Riley -- whos exact capacity in scouting is still to be determined. Ultimately, though, Myers and Lacob said its up to the new general manager to make the final recommendation to the owner. "Like any team, somebodys going to shoot, somebodys going to rebound, somebodys going to set screens," Myers said. "And it doesnt work if everybody is going to shoot the ball, and it doesnt work if nobody is going to shoot the ball. I think we have in place now a team." Your shot, Myers. With Nadal and Ferrer focusing on the ATP season and Almagro injured, Moya has called on veterans Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez to team with debutants Roberto Bautista and David Marrero. Brandon Gibson Patriots Jersey . Browner announced the news via a lengthy statement on his Twitter page. Browner was suspended indefinitely without pay by the league on Dec. 18. The reinstatement will make Browner a free agent as his contract with the Seahawks ended after this season. LeGarrette Blount Patriots Jersey . -- The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with safety Brock Vereen and QB David Fales on four-year contracts.FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Revis Island is coming to New England. The Patriots have agreed to contract terms with three-time All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, according to his business manager. "Now its Official. @Revis24 has agreed to terms with the New England Patriots!" John Geiger tweeted Thursday. The Patriots wasted little time in finding a replacement for another top cornerback. On Tuesday, Aqib Talib left for a six-year contract worth a reported $57 million with the Denver Broncos. The agreement with Revis was first reported by ESPN, which said it was for one year at $12 million. The Patriots have not made an announcement regarding Revis. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the three-time All-Pro on Wednesday before he was due a $1.5 million bonus. Revis was cut after efforts to trade him and his $16 million salary failed. Now hes with New England, the AFC rival of the New York Jets, the team Revis spent his first six seasons with before being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before last years draft. As a Jet, Revis faced the Patriots 12 times in the regular season and post-season, more than any other opponent. He had two interceptions, nine passes defenced, one fumble recovery and 50 tackles in those games. Revis, known for his lock-down coverage of receivers, trademarked the phrase "Revis Island," a nickname he was given because of his ability in man-to-man coverage. Hes an upgrade over Talib, and more durable, and comes to a defence that allowed the 15th most yards passing in the NFL last season and the seventh most overall. The Patriots also could use another pass-rushing defensive end to complement Chandler Jones, who led them with 11 1-2 sacks last season. They won the AFC East with a 12-4 record but lost the AFC championship game in Denver 26-16 as Peyton Manning threw for 400 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The Patriots usually dont sign big-name veteran free agents. Last year, they let wide receiver Wes Welker leave for Denver and replaced him with oft-injured free agent Danny Amendola, who caught 54 passes in a disappointing season. Now the Patriots can focus on finding receivers to help Tom Brady, who will be 37 when he begins his 15th NFL season. Julian Edelman, who emerged last season with a career-high 105 catches, is a free agent but could remain with New England.dddddddddddd Other free agent wide receivers who might interest the Patriots are Jason Avant, who has 297 catches in eight seasons with Philadelphia, Brandon LaFell, who has 167 catches in four seasons with Carolina, and Emmanuel Sanders, who has 161 catches in four seasons with Pittsburgh. They combined for 154 catches for 13 touchdowns last season. Revis spent less than a year with the Bucs, who obtained him from the Jets for a first-round choice last year and a fourth-rounder this year. But with Lovie Smith taking over as coach after Greg Schiano was fired and Jason Licht becoming general manager, both in January, the Bucs are rebuilding a team that went 4-12. If Revis had remained on Tampa Bays roster at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he would have been due the bonus, and the 2014 pick the Bucs sent to the Jets would have become a third-rounder. Just 28 years old but a five-time Pro Bowl selection, Revis, a first-round draft pick in 2007, likely will team with Alfonzo Dennard, drafted in 2012, as the starting cornerbacks. Dennard could see a lot of passes thrown his way since teams are reluctant to throw toward Revis. Dennard, 24, is currently serving a 60-day jail term in Lincoln, Neb., for a 2012 assault on a police officer. He began the term last Saturday and must serve at least 35 days, after credit for good behaviour and the three days he already spent in jail. Defensive captain Devin McCourty is one starting safety, but the other spot is open after the Patriots released Steve Gregory after last season. Revis started all 16 games last season for Tampa Bay after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and receiving a $96 million, six-year contract. He played in just two games for the Jets in 2012 after starting 77 of their 80 regular-season games in his first five NFL seasons. He made the Pro Bowl last season when he had two interceptions, a sack and two forced fumbles. Releasing Revis "was a tough decision. Hes a very good player," Licht, a former personnel executive with the Patriots, said at a news conference Wednesday. "Darrelle showed a lot of heart last year as he worked extremely hard to get himself back on the field following his knee injury sustained the previous season."
